Peacemaking Offering
World Communion Sunday
Oct. 2!
On October 2nd, we in the church celebrate with people all across the globe as we together stand at Christ’s table to share the gifts of our Lord. His body broken and his blood poured out unite us in
discipleship and love.
This month we will depart from our recently adopted schedule of
doing communion on the 2nd Sunday of the month in order to celebrate with other Christians all around our world. Pastor Kolleen Klemmedson will officiate at the table that welcomes and nourishes us all.
We will also receive the Peacemaking Offering of the Presbyterian Church USA. This is one of four major offerings of our denomination. 25% of the offering will stay with our local church to be used in ways that we determine, to help create peace in our community. 25% will go to the Presbytery to be used for a similar purpose, and 50% will find their way to programs at the national and international level. Education, advocacy and Christian witness are the tools used to help bring peace and justice to our world. Some of these programs will assist victims of domestic violence and homelessness. Others tackle issues of human trafficking, racism and discrimination. At a more local level family well-being is lifted as the goal while on the international field, crises like the war in Ukraine or 3rd world poverty and violence are addressed to help make our world a bit kinder for so many.
Please be in prayerful consideration for how you will support this important offering which will be taken in the month of October.
