Our Staff has added Rev, Dr, Dale A, Dykrsta as the part time Interim Pastor as of March 21st ,2021 by a vote of the Session. He was born and attended school in Chicago, attending Millikin University in Decatur Illinois- a Presbyterian college. He graduated with four majors - Religion, Psychology, Philosophy and Political Science. He achieved his Master of Divinity from Princeton Seminary in New Jersey. During this time, he married Cheryl Grubb a registered nurse. They adopted two children: David and Rachel.
Dr, Dykstra served churches in Pennsylvania for 23 years. He became the Stated Clerk of Huntingdon Presbytery for ten tears, with responsibility for 58 churches. Toward the end of this time he completed his Doctor of Ministry from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Moving to Illinois in 1995 he served the Mendota church for 16 years. He became the recording clerk of Blackhawk Presbytery for five years. 2010 was a hard year with Cheryl passing away from Lou Gehrig’s Disease. He retired then – for two months – until being called by the Kewanee and Elmira churches. During this period, he married Donna Parish who also was a registered nurse. Together they have 25 grandchildren and 8 greats! He served these churches until June of 2018 when he retired again.
“Dr Dyke” as he is known serves us as a part time Interim Pastor coming directly from service as an Interim at the Milan Presbyterian Church in Great Rivers for 17 months. He will keep office hours Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 1pm to 3pm. Feel free to call for an appointment at the church number or simply agree to a time when you are together at a service or activity. It is his great hope to help our congregation grow and strengthen.
Karla Trude is our Administrator as Kolleen retires at the end of July 2020. She has been learning this position for a year and a half, and my now does almost all the administrative work herself. Contact Karla for anything related to communications, calendar, bookkeeping, or membership.
Jon Ryner is our Church Musician. He contributes hymns, classical, gospel, contemporary and improvised renditions at the pipe organ and piano.
Mike Niles, a member of our congregation, is Maintenance Superintendent for our Building and Grounds Team caring for boilers, elevator, plumbing, even mechanical aspects of the organ and so much more. In addition Mike volunteers in many tech areas of the church and chairs Personnel.
